Snorkeling in Belize is magical. You will have the opportunity to see rays, turtles and dolphins. The coral gardens hold trumpet fish, angelfish, damselfish, parrotfish and is home to over 25 species of reef fish.  Jason runs snorkeling tours: here! Three-quarters of a mile offshore from Sabal Beach lies Sunken Caye. Grab a kayak, paddle out with your gear and you are always sure to see something interesting. This spot does not compare to snorkeling the reef but on a calm day is nice, it is free and no planning is required.

Just 15 mins away from Sabal Beach is Monkey River. Our favorite guide Jason has an amazing tour: here! Spotting troops of black howler monkeys that are famous for their loud howls in the forest is his specialty. Navigate the Monkey River, winding through thick, lush mangroves that line the shoreline. You may also spot manatees, crocodiles, and tropical birds!

Want to learn to make coconut oil by hand, Johnny Cakes on a fire hearth or a typical Belizean meal? The women’s group in Punta Negra Village will teach you the true art of Belizean cooking. More than just a chance to learn new recipes this is a glimpse into Belizean culture and with lunch as the bonus it is not to be missed.

Like to eat but not cook? Walk down the beach to the restaurant in Punta Negra Village and enjoy one of the best meals you will have in Belize. As the restaurant only opens when expecting guests you can be assured that everything is made to order from scratch just for you.

It may seem obvious but don’t forget to take some time and relax. There is something truly hypnotic about listening to the wind in the palms and the waves breaking on shore. Having time to truly do nothing with no distractions and just enjoy being is a rarity in today’s world not to be overlooked.

Whether you’re seeking thrilling adventures, or you're a relaxation enthusiast, there’s something here for everyone

We have some incredible, world class fishing right out the front of the property. There is Sunken Caye about 1/4 mile out that's accessible by our kayaks on the property.  However if you'd prefer to go trolling and charter a fishing boat. Fishing with Jason is highly recommended, and he will curate the trip for your comfort & experience level.  Whether from the dock, shore or a kayak you can always fish at Sabal Beach. We have a few spin casters and hand-lines at the property for fun, but you will need to provide your own tackle. Serious fishers will want to bring the specific equipment they prefer. Fishing from shore or dock does not require a permit. On the water a permit is legally required, can be purchased online and is $15/day.

Two ocean kayaks are available at the property for guest use. As sit-on-top kayaks they are easily maneuvered so whether a novice or pro you will be able to handle yourself on a calm day. Take one out just for the fun of it, paddle out to Sunken Caye to snorkel or fish as you desire.

We are extremely fortunate to have a plethora of native and transient birds at Sabal Beach. If you are an ornithologist or just enjoy birding you will truly enjoy yourself here. Osprey, Hawks, Frigates, Heron, Egrets, Pelicans, etc. abound and we have even spotted a Jabiru stork on property!

We have only a few neighbors to the north for miles and only a few to the south. In all you can walk nearly twelve miles of beach and come across no more than a handful of houses. The effect of having such an expanse of nature to yourself is one that all of our guests have enjoyed and there is always something new to explore along the shore.
